Well, it has to do with him growing up in the Canton area in Northeast Ohio.McCollum has always shared his love for the Browns on Twitter and recently made a pitch to Richard Sherman about signing with him hometown team in free agency. Sherman ended up responding and it appears he hasn’t ruled out the Browns as a destination.Sherman responds to Browns pitchBrowns fans are going to have mixed reactions to any interest in Sherman. Some will welcome any help in a secondary that was riddled with injuries, while others will want nothing to do with a 33-year-old defensive back.Denzel Ward is the focal point of the Cleveland secondary, but he has dealt with several injuries in his young career. Greedy Williams is supposed to be a key piece as well, however, he did not even step onto the field in 2020 because of injuries.Adding Sherman would reunite him with defensive coordinator Joe Woods after the two spent the 2019 season together in San Francisco. That is where some of the initial interest stems from in the first place. The 49ers corner only played in five games in 2020 and that should end up driving his value down in free agency. He is a five-time Pro Bowler, but is obviously not the same dominant corner he once was during his prime. The Browns need help in the secondary. That is an undeniable truth. If the team is indeed interested in Sherman, having McCollum as the pitch man could help in a big way.
